I came in thinking my English class would be mostly grammar and essays, but we dove into some new areas of media and journalism.
One of the first things we explored was media law and ethics it was particularly interesting. We discussed things like libel, privacy, and the importance of ethics, and It made me realize how much responsibility journalists have and how important it is to have laws and ethical guidelines in the work place not only for journalists. Learning about the history of journalism also. It was nice to see how journalism has evolved over time, from simple news sheets to the digital media we have today. Furthermore, I learned about feature story that was different from a regular news report because it goes deeper into a topic, it’s more catchy and focusing on people and their experiences, telling a story than just presenting facts. We also covered key terms used in media, which helped me understand how messages can be shaped.
So finally, this class has given me a new things about media and its role in society. I feel like I'm now a more informed and learned about it.
Thank u for your hard work, professor.
